Water pollution is real. The threat is getting huge by the day as sewage systems across the world continue to suffer under pressure from the growing human population, expected to reach 9.8 billion by 2050. As the world is grappling to bring attention to this issue, an artist in Taiwan has come up with a unique presentation of this problem in the form of polluted water popsicles inside colorful and beautiful wrappers .
These popsicles come in the shape of a mold of an ice cream, transparent but decorated with different colors inside, very attractive from a distant. But it is only after you look closer that you begin to see dirt particles in the form of dead rubber, bottle caps, insects, and sewerage particles. These popsicles were made using water collected from 100 locations in Taiwan, just to show the level of pollution across the nation.
This colorful project, created by National Taiwan University of Arts students Hong Yichen, Guo Yihui, and Zheng Yudi as their graduation thesis, was designed for the sole purpose of creating awareness on water pollution. The project has been nominated for the Young Pin Design Award, which is much of an endorsement to this innovative work which easily show people how much their lives are in danger to pollution through some of their activities.
