As far as Derrick Lin is concerned, it is a small world after all. He creates charming and detailed miniature art in every day routines, amidst a landscape of office supplies.
His creations have included miniature shepherds herding sheep over stack of notebooks, penguins on an iceberg made out of paper cards, a hiker overseeing a mounting lake that is actually a coffee cup, a park in autumn set on top of a notebook and more.
It probably sounds like a elaborate pencil pushing, but Lin has also managed to recreate many of the beautiful scenes using only his charming miniatures and a few colorful office supplies.
Lin describes himself as “An observer of the tiny moments of agency life, figuratively speaking,” but he certainly knows how to create detailed creations and put them in subtle situations. All of Lin creations are charmingly beautiful in their simplicity, and he certainly knows how to turn the ordinary into the sublime.
Many of his photos have been collected into an upcoming book titled Work, Figuratively Speaking: The Big Setbacks and Little Victories of Office Life.
