To paint or to photograph? That is the question. And the answer, according to talented St. Petersburg-based photographer Eduard Gordeev, is to make no distinction between the two. After all, why would you when you have all the tools to create a painting out of your photograph?
These cityscape scenes of rainy Russia, viewed through windowpanes as raindrops streak down the glass, evoke romance, longing, and melancholy. They play with the blurred lines between reality and imagination. There is a little bit of both, and that’s what makes his work so enchanting.
